MonaLisa Touch is a minimally invasive and painless laser treatment for vaginal restoration. This procedure treats symptoms associated with vaginal atrophy, including vaginal laxity, itching & dryness and painful intercourse.* For some patients, it also help to relieve urinary incontinence issues.* These treatments benefit the body’s vaginal tissue by producing more collagen, which can relieve the symptoms of vaginal atrophy.*
What causes vaginal atrophy?
Vaginal atrophy can occur when vaginal tissues shrink and thin out, causing inflammation. When your body’s estrogen levels drop (for example, after childbirth or during perimenopause, menopause or postmenopause), the symptoms associated with vaginal atrophy usually develop.
How does MonaLisa Touch work?
MonaLisa Touch utilizes fractional CO2 laser energy to stimulate the cells in the vagina. During treatment, Dr. Silberstein places a ring in the vaginal opening. She then inserts the laser and uses it to treat the vaginal tissue by promoting collagen growth and re-establishing a normal blood supply.* The treatment takes 5 minutes or less to complete.
How many treatments are necessary?
For desired results, a majority of patients require 3 treatments that are spaced 6 weeks apart.* Dr. Silberstein recommends annual maintenance treatments to prevent your symptoms from returning. Most patients notice results right after the first treatment, although 3 treatments are recommended for optimal results.*
Does the procedure hurt?
Patients report virtually no pain from their MonaLisa Touch treatments. Anesthesia isn’t necessary for this procedure, and most patients feel only a slight vibration from the laser.
